Residents, staff test negative at N.S. care facility after employee tests positive

DARTMOUTH, N.S. — An assisted-living community in Nova Scotia says recent COVID-19 testing among all its staff and residents has come back negative after one of its employees tested positive for the disease earlier this week.

The residents and families of Jamieson Hall in Dartmouth, N.S., were notified of the negative test results Saturday after testing took place on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hall owner and operator Shannex says retesting of some of the facility’s employees and residents is scheduled for Dec. 31.

Some residents at Jamieson Hall will continue to isolate in their suites at the direction of Public Health, Shannex says, with support from the facility’s team members.

Shannex says visitors are not allowed at this time.

The facility operator undertook testing for Jamieson Hall’s staff and residents after it was notified by Public Health that one its employees tested positive for the novel coronavirus earlier this week.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Dec. 26, 2020.
